The New Zealand Prime Minister, Right Honourable John Key, made a special visit to ACG International School Vietnam on Friday, 29th October on his way to the East Asian Summit in Hanoi.
The Prime Minister and his entourage were greeted at the main entrance of the school by the sound of a marching band and guests and dignitaries from HCMC. The Prime Minister was introduced to ACG CEO Mr. Ian King, ACG Deputy Chairman Danny Chan, AIS General Director Ms Thuy Nguyen, ACG International School Vietnam Head of School Mr. John Burns, Group IT Manager Mr. Andy Parker, Head of Secondary Shawn Hutchinson and Student Leader President Juna Park.
John Burns then guided the Prime Minister and the touring party to the computer lab to observe Kathryn Weir’s Year 6 class working on their e-Portfolios. This was a great chance to demonstrate how e-Portfolios are a collection of work samples from different subject areas that show the learning process and student achievement. Students also complete ‘reflections’ on these work samples to evaluate their own improvements and successes. e-Portfolios are also an important tool to be used when students hold their ‘Student Led Conference’ to share their learning and work samples from the whole school year.
